This week Jasna [info]thewebmistress is in town again, which of course means more hair dying fun. If you saw the pics in my last post I was in dire need of it. I also convinced her that going out to Dance Cave was somehow a good idea.

Yesterday I met up with a friend of mine, [info]thewebmistress, who happened to be in town in between getting ready for her finals. She's recently dyed her hair bright pink, and has had me thinking of doing something similar with the mohawk.

So, on a whim, she came by yesterday to give me a hand with the whole process:

Okay, so, everyone's been linking to the Avatar Generator, but I know a lot of my friends aren't so digitally inclined to know what to do to actually save the image.

Anyway, I threw together a tutorial on how to do this using nothing more than MS Paint.

If you find any problems with it, lemme know.

Tracking camera trained on shuttle detected damage to the wing prior to breakup

One of the scarier exerpts from this article:

"No matter what the investigations show, there are no apparent credible crew survival options for the failure Columbia experienced. With the ISS out of reach in a far different orbit, there were no credible rescue options if even if wing damage had been apparent before reentry -- which it was not."

In related news, Russia is suspending its space tourist program, which means of course, we're indefinitely stuck with Lance Bass.

So, I drink one cup of coffee for the first time in 2 weeks, and it knocks me out for more than an hour....go figure. I thought I was all caught up from the weekend too. Ah well, at least I'm up now.

I haven't posted anything of interest in a good while, so I thought I would mention this:

I now own a cat.

I never thought I would, not that I hated cats, but I've really wanted a dog ever since I was a kid (never had either, mom was allergic to cats, sis was allergic to dogs). But this one needed a home, and it tolerates kids well.

I was wondering if anyone knew the full story to it. I've heard from Nina and Caroline that it was living on Tim and Matt's porch for a month after they fed it once. Jacob figures it was left on the street by people moving somewhere else and not wanting to take it. It was obviously owned by someone else, since it's front paws are declawed (how someone can let an animal into the street after doing this is beyond me).

Anyone know more of the story that I might not? [info]tfx? [info]feanor?

Also: it keeps pissing on the couch, any suggestions to curb that would be cool. It uses the litterbox 95% of the time, but I guess the other 5% of the time it's just too far...

TUMMY ACHE MEDICINE
BY KIDDO

1. Take 3 teaspoons after lunch.

2. Once you drink it in 2 days you'll feel better.

3. It also hypnotizes you for 6 days too.

The medicine contains straws, some rocks, a piece of a playing card, crayon wrapping, a white pawn, a white bishop, and a black knight in there.

I was previously unaware of the medicinal value of chess pieces before this.

Okie, I know I said less quizes, and I I haven't posted anything of substance in awhile. Let me just say that on some levels things are going better than they have been in some time, and I'm grateful for the people that have been around me lately (one in particular — you know who you are). Not getting to see all of my friends as much as I would like (I don't think that would happen unless we took over a neighbourhood). Got an awesome new roommate who rocks the casbah, and will probably kill me for making an 80's song reference to him. :)

In other areas, because of things I'm being elusive about above, it feels like I'm finally about to pull my shit together. I'm really happy to be alive right now. Anyway, the quiz I did, I couldn't avoid, how could I avoid a quiz (stolen from [info]prinsassy called:

From the way they're listing it, it looks like it's going to be showing in two theatres at the same time, so I'm guessing we should decide on which theatre if a group is going.

I had a weird dream last night.

My grandparents were rich, had a giant, very old Victorian house, almost mansion-sized...this is kind of weird because when I was a child they did have a house like this, it was great because it had that old-Victorian-house smell, which I can't describe. I miss that house.

This is where the dream gets weird. Our family kept the dead relatives in the basement in a crypt-like environment (not in an 'illegal' manner, more of a 'rich weirdos' manner) The crypt area had been added on to the house, dirt floors and walls for the most part, little in the way of support in each room. Each relative (or sometimes two or three, depending on relations) had their own room, and you could get from room to room by either going through an adjoining hall, or down some small narrow stairs. It was built like a simple maze of sorts.

For some reason I was visiting my grandfather on my dad's side, someone I have never known. He died while my dad was in high school.

There was a point near the end of the dream where monsters started coming out, very much like the game "Alone in the Dark" — very H. P. Lovecraftian, with the dirt floors and walls underneath an old, huge house, slow-moving 'ghastly' monsters...

I'm not sure if there was any point to this dream, even with the monsters, it wasn't like a scary nightmare, just eerie-yet-intriguing imagery. I like the idea of finding hidden passages/levels in old houses. I wish I could take mental snapshots of this one for later reference, but I wish that about most of my dreams, the imagery is so distinct and 'flavourful,' I find them inspiring somewhat.

So today I found out how out-of-shape I am. I rollerbladed to meet up with [info]zexos, and we went further downtown from there. This was no more than 20 or 30 minutes of blading, and it kicked my ass! Strep took more out of me than I thought...of course, for the first part of this week I couldn't make it through the day without needing 2 naps. I guess lying in a pool of fever and sweat for 5 days will take away your endurance...

This is a good start at least. Rollerblade posse this summer.

So my sisters are up visiting for a little bit, mostly so they can go see Dave Matthews at Air Canada Centre. For lunch we went to McDonald's.

While there, one of them got up to go bug the food slaves for something. Shortly after a couple of the managers strolled our way, and approached the older guy sitting across the aisle from us (picture an older, weirder version of Mr. Bean — not weirder in a good way). It was at this point I realized he was drinking from a GIANT beer can of Molson Canadian with his coffee, and they were asking him to leave.

Perhaps the best line of the conversation was,"You have to leave now, you can't drink that in here, we told you this before..."

I turned to my remaining sister and said "Welcome to Parkdale..."
